Please read this weekly update for important information for the 2026 summer swim season.

SWIM TEAM MEETS

As a reminder, please RSVP for all remaining swim meets ASAP. If your plans change, please update your RSVPs prior to entries closing because last minute scratches affect not only your individual swimmer, but they affect relays, as well. Remember, your swimmer must swim in at least two meets to qualify to swim at the City Swim Meet. We have two big team meets left in July to qualify for City participation (July 16th and July 21st). Unfortunately, we have not been able to reschedule the Blackhawk meet that was cut short due to weather. If your swimmer was on the heat sheet for the July 9th meet, it will still count toward their two qualifying meets even if they did not get to swim in their events.

PREP TEAM MEETS

The final regular prep team meet is this Wednesday, July 15th at Blackhawk (9:30am). Please RSVP on SwimTopia as soon as possible, so that we may plan accordingly. Prep team members, you will receive more information regarding this meet from our co-head prep coaches, Naomi and Justin.

Prep City is an invite-only meet for our most advanced prep swimmers. It will take place at Poco Pool on Monday, July 20th. Swimmers invited to this meet will hear more information from Naomi and Justin very soon.

SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK

This week we’re proud to recognize Evan Burkholder, Mia Becerra, Lilly Smeltzer, and Hannah McMahon for their hard work, dedication, and positive attitudes! They have all shown great improvement in practice and meets. Whether it’s mastering a new stroke technique, beating a personal best, or supporting teammates, these swimmers exemplify the true spirit of our team. Keep up the good work! #GoSYC

SPIRIT WEAR

We have just a couple of our red SYC duck trucker hats still available. If you would like to order a hat for $20, please respond to this email or ask a board member at practice.

Please check your swimmers' bags - some SYC shirts were misplaced in the shuffle of getting packed up when the meet was canceled on Thursday evening. If you find a shirt that does not belong to your family, please bring it to a coach or board member at the pool. Thank you!

VOLUNTEERS

As you know, there are volunteer opportunities at each of our swim meets - home and away! Please continue to check SwimTopia, as positions sometimes open back up as plans change.

CITY SWIM MEET

If you haven’t already, please RSVP for the City Swim Meet right away! We are really hoping for a great SYC turnout this year. The City Swim Meet results from the prior year determine how the teams are split into leagues for the next summer (it is not based on team size, contrary to popular belief). We would love to have a City Swim Meet commitment from as many of our swimmers as possible! The City Swim Meet is fun, exciting, and gives your swimmers a chance to show off how hard they’ve been working all summer long!

2026 City Swim Meet Pre-Sale Weekend Pass:

Swim families can purchase a weekend wristband pass for $10 per adult. This pass will get one person into all sessions of the 2026 Fort Wayne City Swim Meet at Helen P. Brown Natatorium. This pass is only available by pre-sale and will not be available to purchase at the meet. Families who choose not to order weekend passes can still pay at the door. The price is $5 per session. Children 18 and under are free. If you are interested in purchasing a pass, please see a coach or board member at swim practice or a swim meet by Friday, July 24th. Please fill out the attached order form and include cash or check (made out to Sycamore Hills Swim Team).

As a reminder, SYC only requires the use of the FREE version for our families - please do not pay for upgraded versions.
