SYC 2024 - Week 8 - SPIRIT WEEK & CITY SWIM MEET WEEK!
Good afternoon!
Welcome to the final week of our summer swim season! This summer has flown by for us, as we're sure most of you feel the same way. We want to thank all of our SYC swim family for an outstanding season. A special shout out to our big team coaches, Shelby and Joel, and our prep team co-head coaches, Vaughn and Sophie - what a fantastic season we have had under your leadership! We have grown as a team both in and out of the pool, and we look forward to many more fun summers to come! Finally, the board has some important reminders and information for a very busy upcoming week.
VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to those of you who have already signed up for volunteer jobs on our website! There are still quite a few opportunities open for the city swim meet (especially concession volunteer slots), which are still live on our website: https://sycaquatics.
As a reminder, Sycamore is responsible for all aspects of the concession stand for both weekends this year and we need your help! This responsibility rotates through each FWSSDL team in alphabetical order, so we will not have this fundraising opportunity for several more years. We need to fill all volunteer spots and we still have a lot of open positions available. Responsible youth ages 12 and up are able to volunteer for concessions slots. *If volunteering during a session that your child is swimming in, you are absolutely able to step out to cheer on your swimmer!* Please reach out to us if you have any questions or are able to help.
SPIRIT WEEK
This week (July 22nd-26th) is SPIRIT WEEK, the week leading up to the City Swim Meet. It is a wonderful week of fun and exciting events that help close out our summer swim season. Our spirit week committee has worked hard to plan some fun daily crafts and activities. Below is the list of daily themes/events:
Monday, 7/22 - Patriotic day
Tuesday, 7/23 - Anything but a swim cap day
Wednesday, 7/24 - Dress like your coach day
*Our 2024 banquet will be held on Wednesday, July 24th from 6-8:30pm. Please join us for dinner and awards. SYC will provide the main entree and a dessert (for prep and swim team members) from the Kona Ice truck. Please bring a side dish to share, potluck style!
Thursday, 7/25 - Inside out day
Friday, 7/26 - Hawaiian day/Car Decorating & Towel exchange activity
*This year we have decided to host our traditional pancake breakfast on Friday morning at the pool (instead of Sunday morning before finals), as this is the last day of practice for all of our swimmers. If your swimmer wants to participate in the towel exchange activity, please bring a new towel to exchange. We will also be decorating vehicles for the City Swim Meet during this time. All swimmers and families (prep and big team) are welcome. We hope you can join us!
